Garmin introduces new series of slimline COMM and NAV/COMM radios

Advanced features include frequency lookup, standby monitoring and more

Garmin's latest advancements in avionics, the GTR 205 and GNC 215 radios, are meticulously designed to serve a wide array of aviation needs, suitable for both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. These radios are engineered to be versatile, catering to various aircraft types and panel installations. Their 1.3-inch height form factor is intentionally matched with that of the previous-generation SL30 and SL40 radios, facilitating easier upgrades and optimizing space in panels where real estate is at a premium. A significant feature of both radios is the pilot-selectable 25 kHz or 8.33 kHz channel spacing, ensuring global operation capability.

Both models boast a sunlight-readable color LCD display that vividly shows the currently tuned active and standby frequencies, along with the station ID, such as “KOJC TWR” or “KSLE ATIS”. This vibrant display, combined with the dual concentric knob and backlit keys, aligns with the interface found on modern Garmin avionics, offering an intuitive user experience and simplifying operation.

GTR 205 Comm Radio: Advanced Communication for Any Panel

  • Powerful Transmission: Comes standard with 10 watts of power, with an option to upgrade to 16 watts for extended communication range.
  • NVIS Compatibility: Offers an option for Night Vision Imaging System compatibility, catering to specialized operational requirements.
  • Dual Frequency Monitoring: Enables pilots to monitor a standby COMM frequency while remaining tuned to the active frequency, allowing for simultaneous listening to ATIS without switching from the active ATC frequency.
  • Global Frequency Database: Features a worldwide frequency database for easy location of frequencies by airport identifier.
  • Quick Frequency Access: Includes frequency memory and instant recall for tuning to frequently or recently used frequencies efficiently, plus a quick-tune feature for emergency channel 121.5.
  • Built-in Timer: Equipped with a timer to assist in timing approaches, holds, or other maneuvers, with options for counting up or down.

GNC 215 Nav/Comm Radio: Comprehensive Navigation and Communication

  • Integrated Comm/Nav Capabilities: Offers all the COMM features of the GTR 205, along with full VHF navigation capabilities, including VOR/ILS with localizer and glideslope.
  • Navaid Lookup: Automatically finds the desired frequency from a built-in worldwide database by entering a navaid identifier.
  • Automatic Station ID: Decodes a station’s Morse code for positive visual identification on the display.
  • Standby Frequency Monitoring: Can monitor a standby VOR frequency while displaying the received radial, providing additional navigation information.
  • Supplemental CDI Display: Includes a supplemental CDI display for VOR or localizer guidance, enhancing situational awareness during navigation maneuvers.
  • Seamless Integration: Designed to interface seamlessly with most CDI, HSI, and autopilot systems, as well as most Garmin flight displays, ensuring navigation indicators are prominently displayed in the pilot's primary field of view.

AIR TEAM is proud to offer the Garmin GTR 205 and GNC 215 radios, embracing these innovations as essential tools for pilots seeking to enhance their communication and navigation capabilities with the latest technology. Garmin’s dedication to advancing avionics technology is evident in these products, designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern aviation by improving safety, efficiency, and operational flexibility.

Both the GTR 205 and GNC 215 are available to order now and expected to begin shipping in March.
